How to Detect a Leak
Sometimes leaks in your home or office are obvious while at other times they occur out of sight. Before you know it, a simple leak could lead to worse problems such as mold and mildew growth or other damage. Always keep an eye out for any possible signs of a leak. The following are easy leak detection techniques we advise our clients to follow before they give us as call.
An easy but important leak detection technique is a careful visual inspection. Periodically look around your home or office for signs of a leak such as puddles, drips or water stains. Look at ceilings, walls and floors, especially in the corners where even an obvious leak may go undetected. Use your other senses for leak detection. For example, if you hear a dripping noise, smell musty odors or feel moisture where it should not be, these are obvious signs of a leak and should be inspected by a professional immediately.
You should also perform leak detection inspections in areas that are less frequented such as basements, attics and closets. Look for water stains, drips or wet spots that might indicate a leak. Remember that leaks could go undetected in these areas for months on end and the damage might be costly to you.
